Lois Slavin has worked extensively in branding and marketing communications initiatives. As communications director for MIT's System Design and Management (SDM) program for over 15 years, she has overseen creation of strategic messaging; several websites; print and electronic collateral; social media strategy and implementation; and events. She created and manages the MIT SDM Systems Thinking Webinar Series and is a key player in content development and promotion of the annual MIT SDM conference on systems thinking for contemporary challenges. Prior to joining MIT, she worked on staff for the Center for Quality of Management, CSC Index, ODI and Ziff-Davis Publishing and has provided communications services to Arthur D. Little, Price Waterhouse Cooper, Whirlpool, IBM, and others. Her writing has appeared in the Boston Globe, New Age Journal, and other publications. She has also taught communications-related courses at Harvard, Boston University, and Emerson College. She holds an MS in Communications (Television and Radio) and a BA in English/Education from Syracuse University.

Companies and clients include Marion Merrell Dow (Sanofi Aventis), Scriptgen (Anadys) Pharmaceuticals, EnVivo (Forum) Pharmaceuticals, Amakem Therapeutics, and Aminex Therapeutics, and more. He has been an invited speaker and chairperson for a number of international and national conferences, is co-inventor on 35 issued US patents, 3 pending patents and co-author of over 150 scientific articles and book chapters.
